23/9/2004· I used teflon tape the first time through, I have some 1 1/2" npt bronze fittings going from the tank through a bulkhead to the fuel hose. Each one leaked just a drop when the system was filled for the first time. I then had to drain the tank and take everything out

25/6/2014· Re: Teflon Tape On Compression Fittings? I just replaced a couple faucets and was cursing the guy who doped all the threads 15 years ago or so. I thought it would be a quick job and didn''t have some of my cutting tools with me to speed it up underneath - the nuts to hold the faucet in place were glued to the underside with dope, etc. Threads all gooped up.

I teflon taped it 3-4 times, always had a slow leak. Then I also added a bunch of Keg lube and it sealed it up perfectly. TLDR: Teflon tape AND Keg Lube are you best friends for fixing leaky fittings.
I imagine that is why they give you Teflon tape. I asked the question about this above, and got a "We hooked a hose up to it and it worked, so it is hose thread" answer. I was hoping it would be pipe thread so I can plu up some PVC fittings for a flow limiter (ball valve), and a quick disconnect for my garden hose.
29/2/2012· The tape we all refer to as Teflon is actually PTFE tape. I think we have another case like "Romex" that was in another area of the forum recently. Now that this cleared up, I''m sure we will all change our vocabulary and say, "Please hand me the PTFE tape" instead of Telfon tape the same as well all will say, "shielded 3 wire" instead of Romex.
Used to be white Teflon tape would work every time, but the last four (recent) 1/2" and 3/4" NPT connections I have made leaked. In both cases I had to take them apart and use pipe dope. One (washing machine supply valves hot and cold) seeped for days but finally sealed, another (outside faucets) had a serious seep and may or may not have stopped (outside and not a problem).
